Success for girls with Villa and WBA

The Ross Royals Under 10's started in September and what makes them unique is they are the only girl only team in the Herefordshire Boys League. The team was formed with the aim of bringing some of the best Under 10 girls in the county together to push themselves in the tougher environment of boys football. Girls from Tewksbury, Eastnor, Hereford, Ledbury and Ross make up the team who who play on Saturdays, with no training during the week the match is really the training session for the girls who all play girls football on Sundays too.

With a squad of 10 the girls have learnt a lot on the pitch and have had to step up t the challenge of the physicality and fast paced football. Since the team began, one girl Amelie has been spotted by Aston Villa and now plays for their top team in the age group and four other girls are now training and playing games for WBA's Worcestershire player development centre. The team is still looking for year 5 girls who want to test themselves against boys and can still play Sunday girls football for their current teams.
