An invitation from the QPR Community team to visit Loftus Road to watch the Championship match of QPR vs Birmingham City turned out to be so much more.
Thanks to Justin, Kerry and Ria at QPR the day was an unforgettable experience for our young players. A trip down to London early in the morning was full of anticipation as the first event of the day planned was a visit to PLAY football which is literally next door to Loftus Road. A morning of football followed in even matches between Ross and QPR. The PLAY courts offered our girls a real challenge and our girls marvelled at the skills and innovative play of the QPR girls who used the environment to their advantage. The matches was followed by many activities in the fanzone.
A short walk to Loftus Road meant we were all in our seats pre kick off and all fed and watered. The girls then formed a guard of honour for both teams pre kick off which was exciting, on the way round to the players entrance the girls met ex QPR and England winger Andy Sinton. The roar of the crowd was deafening as the teams came out.
The first half was great but the real excitement was to come as the girls went on the pitch at half time to play games and take penalties against Sparky the QPR mascot in front of the crowd. The sheer excitement and thrill of being on the pitch was very special to all of our players.
The second half followed and QPR went on to win 3-1, the girls loved the unique atmosphere of Loftus Road, a proper traditional football stadium. Following the game we headed back to Ross, tired but elated at such a wonderful football experience. The whole day had been captured by the brilliant QPR Community team and will be posted on the website shortly. We could not have wished for the girls to have such a real and authentic football experience and thank the QPR team massively for the best of days.
