New chapter in Womens football begins at Ross

Our new Womens teams has been over 10 years in the making! When the girls section was formed in 2011 it was always the aim to create a pathway for the players in our girls teams to one day represent the club in Womens football. Many of the girls joined the club once it started girls football back in 2011 and have been with us ever since.

The new team which started playing Womens teams just this year under the management of Rob and Simon have started superbly. Remaining undefeated so far against more experienced teams the future looks very bright. The team will be entering the Midwest Counties Football League in September and have a programme of summer friendlies to get them prepared.

The nucleus of the side are last seasons u16’s and we are delighted that older girls who have played for the club previously have returned to be key parts of the team. With such a young team the club is keen to recruit a couple of older players who can share their experience with the girls and lead them on the pitch. Training is 6pm Ross Sports Centre on Tuesdays. Just come along.

It’s a really exciting time for the club with a competitive Womens team showcasing the best of our girls section now coming to fruition. For subsequent seasons with 10 girls teams in the club and over 150 players there will be no shortage of talented young players breaking through.

This summer Kerys Harrop of Tottenham Hotspurs will be training the team. GL Jones Haulage Contractors have again generously stepped forward to sponsor and will be supplying the teams tracksuits.

We would be keen to hear from any local company who would like to take the opportunity to sponsor the home kit for next season and help us on what’s going to be an exciting football adventure as we aim to climb the leagues.
